Email Application Setup: Android 4.4 KitKat or earlier

If you have an newer Android device that uses the Gmail app, follow these instructions instead.

Create a New Email Account

  1. Open the Email application. 
  2. On the Account Setup screen, enter your full email address and password, then tap Next
  3. What type of account is this? Select POP3 or IMAP. We recommend IMAP.


Incoming Server Settings


Enter the following settings for an IMAP with SSL* configuration: 
  1. Username: Your full email address.
  2. Password: The password for your email account.
  3. Server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name. 
  4. Port: 993
  5. Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  6. IMAP path prefix: INBOX. This will allow you to store your Sent, Drafts and Deleted emails on the server.
  7. Tap Next.

Outgoing Server Settings


Enter the following settings for an IMAP with SSL* configuration: 
    1. SMTP server: This is your domain name preceded by "mail." like mail.example.com.
    2. Port: 465
    3. Security type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    4. Check Require Sign-In.
    5. Username: Your full email address
    6. Password: The password for your email account.
    7. Tap Next.

    Account Options


     
    1. Inbox Checking Frequency: Set how often you would like your device to check for new emails.
    2. Optionally, check the following boxes with your preferences: 
      1. Send email from this account by default. 
      2. ​Notify me when email arrives. 
      3. Sync email from this account.
      4. Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi. 
    3. Tap Next.


    Name the Account

    • If you would like you can name the email account, this can be helpful if you have multiple accounts on the one device.
    • Enter the name you would like to be shown on all outgoing emails that you send from the device.
    • Tap Next.

    And you're done!
